The world's largest provider of renewable energy, Siemens Gamesa, has stated it will eliminate over 3,000 positions as it attempts to turn around its financial situation.

A statement issued by the Siemens group said, "To realize the company's projections for growth, Siemens Gamesa is working to strengthen specific areas within key leading markets to capitalize on its strong market position in offshore, as well as growing across the entire value chain and driving a project-centric business approach."

The action is a part of a review of the company's strategy called Mistral, which was unveiled last year to streamline operations in light of growing financial losses. As issues remained with its onshore wind operation, Siemens Gamesa suffered.
