Why Attaining AI Consciousness, as Close as Humans’ is Impossible?

Attaining AI consciousness is not a goal but it is the eventual evolution of technologies

We are swiftly moving towards a future that is extensively focused on making computers think. Over the years, the rapid progress of machine learning algorithms and neural networks has now prompted us to find out whether AI consciousness as close as humans' is possible or not. Machine consciousness is strikingly one of the most prominent and trendiest aspects that researchers are exploring keeping in mind the ethical aspects of artificial intelligence. As AI grows, more and more tech enthusiasts are questioning AI's lack of ethics and lack of consciousness in current robots, which eventually showcases a machine's inability to perform in shared workspaces, along with humans. But the truth is AI consciousness will never be able to compete with that of humans.

Why can't AI consciousness overtake human intelligence?

Well, the answer to this is still obscure. Scientists and researchers have long formed their opinions about artificial intelligence, they have also shared several philosophical arguments based on AI's capability to compete with human consciousness. Currently, artificial intelligence is at a unique stage where it is driven partially or entirely by humans but is not challenging their current status or position. In fact, AI is helping human workers efficiently perform their tasks with minimum errors.

Several disagree with the fact that AI will eventually gain intelligence, but most have accepted that sooner or later, computers will achieve artificial general intelligence (AGI) to enhance their operational usefulness. But currently, the basic assumption of AI consciousness can be found in the physical world of machines and robots. Moreover, the theory given by humans for machine consciousness comes from a third-person perspective, without relying much on phenomenal consciousness.

Well, we can conclude that for the time being AI consciousness cannot truly compete with humans since the very remnant of these technologies is coming from humans, who are quite aware of stepping up the abilities of machines and the drastic change of events that it might lead to.
