Good morning Tech Fam, here's a quick tech update for you to catch on:
What's new today: US President Joe Biden has signed a law committing US$280B (£232bn) to high-tech manufacturing; BTC options activity is showing signs of bullish sentiment.
Fast-Trach Insights: Ethereum is moving closer to adopting a proof-of-stake model for its network; WhatsApp is officially bringing the option to unsend messages that as a little over two days old.
The highly anticipated ETH Merge upgrade is considered to be one of the most significant upgrades that the crypto market will see. As per expert predictions, the launch of the Merge upgrade will trigger a triple-halving event for the crypto. They believe that since BTC has mostly reacted positively to halving, it is also likely that Ethereum value will also surge instantly, given the two are quite closely related. With this, Ethereum is moving closer to adopting a proof-of-stake model for its network, which is less energy intensive than the existing proof-of-work method.
BTC options activity is showing signs of bullish sentiment. Call open interest exceeds put open interest, resulting in a call/put ratio of 1.85. There are spikes in open call interest at both the US$24,000 and US$25,000 price levels (with price level often being called the "strike" price). As BTC prices move past US$24,000, BTC will likely see increased buying pressure, which could push prices higher. The same holds true for the US$25,000 strike price.
WhatsApp is officially bringing the option to unsend messages that as a little over two days old. WhatsApp confirmed the update via a tweet on Tuesday. The unsend message feature basically means that you can delete the sent message, which is as old as two days. WhatsApp says the unsend feature is not limited to chats, and you can delete photos and videos as well.
US President Joe Biden has signed a law committing US$280B (£232bn) to high-tech manufacturing and scientific research amid fears the country is losing its technological edge to China. The investments include tax breaks for companies that build computer chip manufacturing plants in the US.
The team behind Google Search is tweaking its featured snippets- the text boxes that sometimes spread false information while trying to offer help. The company announced an update that's supposed to make answers more accurate and avoid the problem of false premises, or questions where no definitive-sounding answer would make sense.
