Elon Musk has disclosed a new prospective acquisition target, buoyed by his $44 billion acquisition of Twitter Inc. triumph. Musk's Twitter followers, not his, however, came up with the idea of purchasing this new business.
Musk was told by a Twitter user going by the handle "Wall Stree Silver" that it would make sense if Twitter acquired Substack and "tightly connected the two systems."
He wrote: "Twitter with Substack suddenly generates tremendous competition for outmoded old corporate media."
Musk replied, "I'm open to the idea," in response.
Musk proposed while wondering why corporate journalism was racing to protect the government rather than the people.
A San Francisco-based provider of email newsletters is called Substack. Through subscriptions, it enables independent authors and podcasters to publish directly to their audience. Recently, a lot of content producers have asked their fans to join their Substacks. This might serve as a stand-in until they can point users to a new social networking site.
Following Musk's interest in purchasing the business, many online users have also backed the notion of a Twitter and Substack combination.
The gap between Elon Musk and the reporters that cover Twitter Inc. has grown at this time.
This month, Musk just suspended the Twitter accounts of a number of these journalists.
Musk said that the media were disclosing "essentially assassination coordinates" on his movements. He accused them of doing this. He didn't back up his assertion with any proof.
"Journalists" are subject to the same doxxing laws as everyone else, Musk said in a tweet.
"Criticizing me all day is OK, but doxxing my real-time whereabouts and putting my family in danger is not," he later said.
Doxxing is the practice of publishing someone's name, address, phone number, or other personally identifiable information in a way that violates their privacy and may prove harmful.
