TRAI to Introduce AI-Backed Services to Curb Spam Calls

TRAI to introduce AI-based service to reduce spam calls and associated frauds

The introduction of AI-backed services by telecommunications companies is now required by the new TRAI regulations to reduce spam calls and associated fraud. By the most recent regulations, Bharti Airtel, Reliance Jio, BSNL, and Vodafone Idea have already committed to putting this new system in place. Telecom operators have been requested by TRAI to introduce AI-based service to make sure that advertising calls are not placed on 10-digit mobile phones. The installation of a Caller ID function, which displays the caller's name and image on the device's screen, has been mandated by the government to make it easier for customers. The number of bothersome calls will probably drop dramatically as a result of this functionality.

TRAI has also asked carriers to include a Call ID function that allows customers to recognize callers by seeing their name and photo on their mobile phone's screen. According to reports, some telecom firms, including Airtel and Jio, are reluctant to implement the AI spam filter technology because they are concerned about privacy. There isn't any precise information available about this announcement, though. The targeted start date for the introduction of the artificial intelligence filter technology to combat spam is May 1.
The user will be protected from everyday spam calls and messages by TRAI's installation of an AI filter that will block these calls and SMSes. The AI filter will assist the smartphone user in avoiding phony and commercial calls that consume a lot of data and are also distracting.
