Upbit, a South Korean cryptocurrency exchange, has resumed Aptos (APT) deposits and withdrawals after resolving an issue in which a bogus APT token was mistakenly identified as the genuine article. Upbit abruptly terminated Aptos token services on September 24 after detecting an “abnormal deposit attempt,” prompting an examination of the wallet system. The issue appears to have sprung from a freshly produced bogus APT token called “ClaimAPTGift.com,” which made its way into 400,000 Aptos wallets after being launched on September 21.
