Top Bachelors and Masters Programs in Robotics Offered by Indian Colleges

Analytics Insight presents a list of top bachelor's and master's programs in robotics offered by top Indian colleges.

Robotics has become an important part of education. Almost every college and institute today offers robotics courses and different programs. That's because introducing robotics to education means making technical skills and knowledge hands-on and fun and preparing students for the future. Robotics is a well-rounded approach to educational technology and learning. It is a widespread engineering subject that could lead to more community and educational opportunities. So today, we are going to list the top bachelor's and masters' programs in robotics offered by Indian colleges.

IIT Kanpur

The Centre for Robotics at IIT Kanpur was established in 1989 through a grant from MHRD. It is an interdisciplinary center, with associated faculty members from aeronautical, computer science and engineering, electrical engineering, and mechanical engineering departments. The center is actively involved in researching various areas of robotics ranging from kinematics, dynamics and design, motion planning, intelligent control, AI, computer vision, etc.

The center does not offer its degrees and the students working here get the respective degrees from their parent departments like mechanical engineering, computer science engineering, etc. The center also provides summer training programs and short-term courses and workshops for both Indian and foreign students, teachers, and researchers.

International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad (IIITH)

IIITH, an autonomous university, was founded as a not-for-profit public-private partnership (N-PPP) in 1998 and is the first IIIT in India under this model.

The university offers a large variety of programs like undergraduate, post-graduate, Ph.D. alongside part-time programs. IIITH has a Robotic Research Lab, which aims to work on research problems and innovative projects that extend the state-of-the-art in robotics.

IIIT Allahabad

Attributed to significant research and activities, the robotics group of IIIT Allahabad was uplifted as a Centre of Excellence named Centre of Intelligent Robotics with special emphasis on health care automation. The center is equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure including Baxter humanoid robot (Cobot), Nao humanoids, Pioneer LX mobile robot, etc., along with a bouquet of indigenously developed robots.

IIIT Allahabad offers M.Tech. in Robotics through CCMT counseling based on the score obtained in GATE. Candidates for robotics to join in IIITA must complete B.E./ B.Tech. in the relevant stream.

MIT

The Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT), Manipal was established in 1957 as one of the first self-financing engineering colleges in the country. The institute undertakes sponsored research programs supported by funding agencies such as DST, CSIR, AICTE, and the Ministry of Environmental Sciences. It has collaborative research programs in association with premier research laboratories and institutes in India and abroad.

MIT offers a bachelor's and master's program in engineering streams. It also gives students the option to carry out full-time or part-time research. The minimum duration for postgraduate qualified Ph.D. students is three years for full-time, and four years for part-time. There is a one-year relaxation for applicants with an MPhil degree. The institute also offers an M. Tech program in industrial automation and robotics under its mechatronics department.

Parul University

This university aims at bridging the gap between academia and career, by emphasizing development programs for both students and staff.

Parul University offers a B.Tech. program in robotics and automation under the department of robotics and automation. For this course, candidates must pass 10+2 in the science stream with the mandatory subject and other subjects from a recognized institute/board with 45%.

Amity University, Gurugram

Amity University offers an integrated B.Tech. + M.Tech. in artificial intelligence and robotics. Eligible candidates need to appear for the Amity Joint Entrance Examination (Amity JEE). Additionally, JEE-Mains qualified candidates are exempted from Amity JEE.

University College of Engineering, Osmania University, Hyderabad

University College of Engineering, Osmania University offers M.E. in automation and robotics. Candidates must pass with 50% in graduation and the score obtained in Post Graduate Engineering Common Entrance Test (TS PGECET) or GATE score.

Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi

Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University offers M. Tech. in robotics and automation engineering. For this program, candidates must complete B.Tech./B.E. in computer science/computer engineering/computer science and engineering/information technology or equivalent with 60%.

PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore

PSG College of Technology (PSGCT), Coimbatore offers B.E. in robotics and automation engineering under the department of robotics and automation engineering. Candidates who have passed 10+2 (Academic) or its equivalent with 45% in mathematics, physics, and chemistry put together, will be eligible for this program.

NIE Mysore – National Institute of Engineering

NIE Mysore offers M.Tech. in industrial automation and robotics for 2 years full-time program. Candidates must complete B.E./ B.Tech in relevant streams with 50%.
