This is How Google Uses AI to Predict Weather Conditions
Published on

Google employs AI research to devise fresh solutions that can assist in weather prediction. The newer methods are employed with an objective to perfect the forecasting technology. A proper forecasting technology can also detect floods and help making proper decisions regarding measures and precautions to be taken to prevent damage.

Attaching a new dimension to enhance the credibility of weather forecasting mediums, Google has joined hands with National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and NESDIS to cultivate more benefits of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML). This, in turn, will also be beneficial for NOAA for refurbishing its satellite services and data on environment.

NESDIS and Google are entering into a partnership with an aim and vision to ameliorate NOAA's environmental monitoring, climate research and weather forecastingwhich are executed using the cloud infrastructure offered by Google.

Google is prospering in making the best out of AI and also by choosing to work closely with the team of NOAA. Google believes that getting in unison with the team, can help in generating accurate weather forecast results for extreme conditions like hurricanes and tornadoes that still continue to attack U.S.A.

Etching its belief in Google, National Research Foundation(NSF)has recently announced the AI Institute for Research on Trustworthy AI in Weather, Climate, and Coastal Oceanography (AI2ES). AI2ES is led by Amy McGovern of which Google is the co-founder.

The institute opens its doors to researchers hooked on atmospheric and environmental sciences who can work to give birth to new innovations in AI weather forecasting that can predict climate and coastal hazards. This mission, as a consequence, is expected to add on the educational aspects of AI, enhancing diversity.
