According to Sanjay, success is a journey, not a destination. He says that he has enjoyed the journey so far. The people he met during the journey have contributed a lot through sharing and experiences. He expresses that for the past two decades, he could see that the end users suffer helplessly through ransomware and other cyber-attacks, leaving them with no options but to compromise. He was forced by this victim-like environment to think about the possible way out. As an entrepreneur, he did not want the countrymen to wait for some other country to provide the solution. Sanjay claims that he feels inspired by the ideology of “Make in India”. He visualizes that once the data is stolen, there is no guarantee of getting it back even after paying money. Such threats and the uncertainty associated with it shocked him from the core and made him resolve to make India a ransomware-free country.
Transforming Challenges into the Steps to Success
Sanjay mentions that in the early phase of Vibranium, the research and development aspects were smooth. One of the major challenges he faced was managing adequate time for the company. The team that was there had different skill sets, they were trained differently, they had experience in different domains and the task assigned was from a completely new domain.
As the decision maker, he shares that he had to transform his viewpoint of the problem and the solutions. On that note, he remarks that aligning decisions, working with the team, and utilizing the resources was the biggest challenge.
Sanjay claims that he has been working with a large network for a very long time but the methodology and the systems were entirely different and Vibranium required a completely new mindset to design business policies to make the network win. These challenges allowed him to create something that the world of cyber security had never seen before.
What Makes You a Good Leader?
When it comes to leadership attributes, Sanjay shares a few that have worked for him. On that note, he says, “I have generated the courage to execute what I could see forwarding Vibranium. Another thing is that I have learned to work with people who are more skilful than I am. Throughout the journey I never allowed my focus to get deviated and I have relentlessly followed my passion. The option of being tired doesn’t exist.”
‘Simplicity’ at the Heart of Innovation
Sanjay mentions that at Vibranium, there are two sets of target audiences- first, the end users and second the channel partners and distributors. While creating products and providing solutions, the team always looks at the existing gaps in the cybersecurity market.
He reveals that he witnessed the end users being not fully proactive and having to suffer data losses by cyber-attacks. Thus, the team created an antivirus that is proactive and prevents attacks. Now the end users are getting what they are paying for Vibranium. Channel partners had a lot of complaints regarding unfair and insensitive business practices. He expresses that at Vibranium, the team has designed uniform and fair business practices throughout the business network. To appeal to the company’s target audience, it has removed complexity and created simplicity in the product, services, and policy. He further articulates that in the future, the approach is going to be the same.

Sanjay believes that in the next fifteen years, as societies become more digital, data protection will emerge as the most critical challenge. On that note, he quotes Robert Mueller (FBI Director 2012) sayings- “there are only two types of Companies, those that have been hacked and those that will be”.
