The Infinix company’s latest gaming smartphone is now in the Philippines, namely the Infinix GT 20 Pro. At Php13,999 introductory price. GT 20 Pro has received significant attention and praise for its affordability and quality.

Infinix also revealed that it has signed an agreement with MPL and that the Infinix GT 20 Pro would be the tournament phone for the season.

The steps that Infinix took to produce such an affordable but still fairly powerful smartphone would be something we would like to explore more in this Infinix GT 20 Pro Review.

Design and Construction

The unit is available in Mecha  Blue, Mecha Silver and Mecha Orange are also available and has a back panel with a set of interactive and customizable LED indicator lights. We also get the maximum 12GB of RAM with an additional MemFusion 12GB and 256 Internal Storage, which is an improvement from its generational predecessor.

As for the dimensions and weight of the two machines, the GT 20 Pro is a tad lighter: it’s thinner, slightly taller, and slightly thicker than the GT 20. You can’t really tell the difference, but we prefer the GT 20 Pro because it has a thinner look, which then leads to a much larger screen and feels better in the hands.

One way the Infinix GT 20 Pro could have set itself apart from other smartphones, as you would see, especially when the GT 10 Pro was announced for the first time, with features that can be seen on other smartphones in the same price range, is in the design.

The Cyber Mecha Design with Mecha Loop LED Interface's glowing and lighting-up design looks awesome whether the phone is charging, somebody is calling, or playing music.

Crank it even further with GT Game Boot (the lights turn on when XArena is initiated or a game is launched), or activate Party Mode, where the blinkies are on all the time.

Display, Multimedia, and Biometrics

The 6.78” display has a 94. 3% screen-to-body ratio that is almost bezel-less. In addition, the AMOLED panel on this device has a 144Hz refresh rate that makes gameplay smoother and visuals clearer. This is among the highest in the market and is normally only found in expensive, high-end gaming smartphones such as the ASUS ROG Phone, which is now at 165Hz.

There is also a 1080×2436 pixels resolution and 1,300 nits peak brightness courtesy of the LTPO display.

Infinix also added Pixel Works X5 display processors to enhance visual performance for high-end activities like gaming. The same visual processor has been used in many other flagship devices, including the OPPO Find X5, HONOR Magic5, and iQOO Z9 Turbo.

It stabilizes the frame rate and is an extraordinary engine that enhances the quality of visuals, rendering, cooling, and networking acceleration with less power consumption.

Supported games include: MLBB @ 120FPS, PUBG @ 90FPS, ROV @ 60FPS, Freefires @ 90FPS, Call of Duty @ 90FPS, Genshin @ 120FPS (interpolated), Honkai: Star Rail @ 120FPS (interpolated).

This is accompanied by dual speakers, which JBL tunes for music, movies, or even a round of Rank games in Mobile Legends.

In terms of security, you get Face Unlock and Fingerprint sensor in addition to password options.

The stereo speakers located at the top and bottom of the device provide decent sound quality. It is clear and loud, not shrill or obtrusive, but it lacks bass ideal for music, films, or games.

Camera

One of the most innovative changes to the GT 20 Pro, something we wouldn’t have expected at all, is the camera system. The primary camera shooter now employs a 108MP Samsung ISOCELL HM6 sensor with OIS.

Despite being introduced two years ago, it's still a good sensor. It has been employed on the Xiaomi 12T and other earlier Infinix models, like the Note 12 Pro and Note 12 VIP.

The picture quality is good and sharp in the day as well as at night. And, because it has OIS, the focus is fast, and images are clear and bright.

As with image capturing, video recording has also been improved. There are no more shaky videos, and you can record at 4K @ 60fps. Well, there are some slightly noticeable ones from time to time, as it can be seen that the steadiness of shots of the ocean in the clip below is slightly shaky.

A companion 2MP macro lens and a 2MP depth lens focus and assist the primary camera. This front camera is for selfies, has a 32MP sensor, and supports video capture at 1080p.

On balance, we are satisfied with the GT 20 Pro camera’s photo-video capabilities. They are much better than the previous generation and suitable for sharing on social networks.

Performance and Benchmarks

The Infinix GT 20 Pro is fuelled by a Mediatek Dimensity 8200 Ultimate chipset. This is the same chip that was adopted by the Xiaomi 13T the previous year, a mid-rangers flagship, and is based on a 4nm process.

It shares the same processor set as the Dimensisty 8020 of the GT 10 Pro, but for each of the high-performance cores, the clock speed is higher – 3. 1 GHz for the initial ARM Cortex A78 (unlike 3. 0GHz for the second tri-core optimized frequency ARM Cortex A78 (down from 2. 0GHz for the power efficient quad-core ARM Cortex-A55 cluster.

The benchmark results indicated the raw performance has a margin of about 25 percent higher if, for instance, we only look at the scores as the standard. In addition to that, you have the new 50% increase in the amount of memory, which is now 12 GB. Infinix also increased MemFusion by 12GB to cater to multi-tasking functionality in their operating systems.

It means more memory for compressing and storing apps and games ‘virtually’ for instant recall at any one time.

In terms of real-life performance, the Infinix GT 20 Pro is expensive it launches apps and games swiftly and runs them efficiently (no signs of heating noted at all).

When it comes to specific performances on the major and popular games out there, there was a lot of effort, especially on the part of Infinix, to achieve high levels of optimization on the GT 20 Pro. Therefore, it can efficiently support the game emulation of Mobile Legends at 120fps or Genshin and Hongkai at 120fps (in interpolation mode).

They also installed an ESports Mode, which eliminates all notifications and phone calls while you are immersed in a game.

OS, Apps, and UI

Powering the Infinix GT 20 Pro is the XOS for GT V14, founded on Android 14. In the development part, Infinix promises that the GT 20 Pro will receive Android updates up to Android 16, including all intermediate bumps in the security field.

Infinix also vowed that the mobility models would come with a Clean & Pure OS, a simplified OS free of unwanted applications from third parties. No additional apps are installed, and those available are XArena, XTheme, and the XOS Family of apps. Speaking of this, I must tip my hat to Infinix!

Notably, where Infinix chose to concentrate its efforts on software enhancing gaming performance.

The Infinix GT 20 Pro review shows that it also comes with features such as an ‘ESports Mode’ that gives you the ultimate gaming experience with no interruption. You can enable this while playing games such as Mobile Legends or by just enabling it through XArena.

Increased attention to a Clean & Pure OS, as well as the inclusion of ESports Mode, offers a dedicated gaming environment free from interruptions, unnecessary applications, and other processes.

Connectivity and Battery Life

The GT 20 Pro is equipped with a list of essentials for connectivity, including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, and GPS. The dual nano-SIM is also compatible with 5G networks of Smart, Globe, and DITO. There is also an FM radio tuner, which can be used by simply inserting the provided wired earphones.

The only downside is that, once again, you are limited to 256GB of storage; there is no memory card expansion slot here.

It comes with a 5000mAh hour built-in battery with support for 45W Hyper Charge fast charging. The phone can easily last for about a day of moderate to heavy usage with primarily Wi-Fi connectivity. It also backs PD 3. 0 and ByBass Charging so that you can charge this device while gaming non-stop.

In the video loop test, the GT 20 Pro's battery capability was able to sustain up to 23:48 minutes of playing a full HD video at 50% brightness, zero volume, and with the phone in airplane mode. In PCMark Work 3.0 Battery test, the phone was able to give a fair 12 hours and 19 minutes under the same situation.

For gaming, when tested with a ranked game of Mobile Legends with the brightness set at 50%, volume at 50%, and playing through WiFi for about 7 hours and 30 minutes of gaming time. This is with the screen refresh rate being 144Hz, LED backlight enabled, and the game being played in ultra-settings in 120fps.

The battery recharge time is within an hour, and it can go from zero to a fully charged unit.

All in all, we can take the battery performance satisfactorily. We only got an average reading here, which is expected since other devices that we tested under the same conditions performed better; nevertheless, we know that the GT 20 Pro has some other gaming-related theme, such as the back panel lights, which is why it draws more current than the normal rate. Still, you can always disable the ones you don’t need if you are out of battery or want to conserve it.

Conclusion

The Infinix GT 20 Pro Review has all of the boxes ticked for a budget-loving gaming phone: an excellent grade of performance from the competent Dimensity 8200 Ultimate; a clean and elegant display with a high frame rate; the new pure OS; features in the camera and gaming design. In addition to that, it has a unique design and LED lighting that any gamer would fall in love with when using the augmented product.
