Microsoft’s Phone Link has expanded its Instant Hotspot feature including it to a wider range of Android devices. The instant hotspot feature can now be used in OnePlus and Oppo that enable the users to connect their PCs without the requirement of any details.
Previously, the Instant Hotspot feature was limited to Windows 11 laptops that were linked to Samsung phones using the Phone Link app.
A report from Android Authority indicates that the Instant Hotspot feature allows users to connect their Windows PC to the mobile hotspot on their smartphone more easily and swiftly. It requires no manual setup, including password entry, and it makes the internet less of a hassle with users who are on the go. The Instant Hotspot feature was launched in October 2022 for Samsung phones.
Users can enable the Instant Hotspot feature by selecting Link to Windows app and then selecting “Connect your PC to your mobile hotspot in an instant”. It was announced as a server-side update. According to a publication, users will receive an over-the-air (OTA) update that could update the Windows Service app to the latest version.
Also, other features like cross-device copy and paste and app streaming will be available by the expansion of the Instant Hotspot feature.
By incorporating the Link to Windows Service app into its One UI, Samsung enabled the Galaxy Phone Link app to utilize advanced capabilities such as initiating or terminating a connected hotspot. This special feature was a major attraction for Samsung customers, providing them with a distinct benefit in terms of both connectivity and ease of use. The feature is available for the beta version.
