As we are approaching the launch of iPhone 16, more and more details are appearing on the web. Apple usually does not announce the release date far in advance; however, it is expected that Apple will launch its iPhone 16 in September, and iPhone events are held every year. If you have not had the chance to take a look at the leaked specs of the upcoming iPhones, here are the most anticipated changes for the iPhone 16 family. But it is important to reemphasize that all of this information is available only in the unveiled part of the case.

iPhone 16 launch event likely in September: Design, battery, and everything else we know
Leaked design changes

There are whispers that the next generation of iPhones, the iPhone 16 series, will introduce significant alterations to their design, deviating from the usual physical buttons. This leads others to believe that Apple is looking to transition to capacitive buttons that give a tactile feedback when touched like they are a real button. Originally, this advancement was expected to be included in the iPhone 15 series; however, due to some technical issues, it was shifted to the iPhone 14 series following the integration of Apple’s Taptic Engine technology.

In terms of the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus cameras, there is some hint that the camera module will be in a compact pill shape vertically and come with both wide and ultra-wide lenses. This configuration is expected to accommodate Spatial Video recording, a feature that was previously seen in the Apple iPhone 15 Pro models only. Furthermore, a new dedicated Capture button for video shooting is expected, and the Action button which was available only in iPhone Pro models is likely going to be present in all iPhone 16 editions. The arrangement of a punch-hole for the front camera and the provision of a USB Type-C port also should remain the same as seen in the iPhone 15 series.

The upcoming iPhone 16 models are rumored to feature bigger screens and even narrower edges for an improved viewing experience. The iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max are likely to have larger screens, ranging from 6.3 to 6.9 inches, respectively, giving users more space. But this may be a problem for those people who are using their phones with one hand. Conversely, the standard iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus are expected to keep the 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch screen sizes of their predecessors but could benefit from a 120Hz refresh rate, offering smoother animations and interactions akin to the Pro models. Although, some of these details have not been officially confirmed, therefore, we can treat some of them as rumors.

Chipset? Software?

Regarding their capabilities, the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus are expected to be equipped with the A18 SoC, whereas the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max could have the more sophisticated A18 Pro chip. There are rumors that the Pro models might come with pads made from graphene instead of graphite as they are now. This change is reported to have been made because of improving the device’s heat dissipation functionality, thus making it cool to use when executing rigorous tasks.

Battery and charging improvements?

Battery performance is also anticipated to see enhancements in the iPhone 16 series. Rumors suggest that the Apple iPhone 16 might have a battery capacity of 3,561mAh, and the iPhone 16 Plus might feature a 4,006mAh battery. The battery specifications for the Pro model remain undisclosed, but it is speculated that the iPhone 16 Pro Max could have a bigger battery capacity of 4,676mAh.

Camera upgrades?

It predicted that the iPhone 16 Pro Max is likely to excel in the camera aspect where rumors hint at a new telephoto lens with a zoom capability that may surpass the current 5x zoom in capturing far-off objects for photography. It is also believed that the iPhone 16 Pro might have a 5x optical zoom just like the iPhone 15 Pro Max due to the tetraprism lens technology that Apple is reported to have developed to boost the zoom of these phones without affecting the resolution of the photos. Apple is in the course of integrating new anti-reflective optical coatings for its cameras to reduce elements such as lens flare and ghosting for better image capture of scenes in various lighting conditions.

In addition, the Apple smartphone iPhone 16 Pro models are predicted to come equipped with an even better 48-megapixel Ultra Wide lens that will be capable of capturing more light to give better, sharper images. It is also expected to improve night photography and allow the 48-megapixel ProRAW photos in the Ultra-Wide range.
