Apple has introduced new functionalities through its iOS update to enhance the overall user experience on its devices and improve interactions with customer service, including support for new Indian languages and numbers. The upgrade also includes an expanded Indian Language Support options, and input methods with a keyboard designed for multiple languages, improved search for language content, and support for a language-capable Siri. These updates aim to appeal to Indian users particularly.

In a statement, Apple mentioned, "Apple iOS 18 makes the iPhone more personal, capable, and intelligent than ever. It's a major release that features more customization options, the biggest redesign ever of the Photos app, new ways for users to manage their inbox in Mail, and so much more."

In the most recent update, users have the option to personalize the display time on the lock screen using Indian numerals in 12 different languages: Arabic, Arabic Indic, Bangla, Devanagari, Gujarati, Gurmukhi, Kannada, Malayalam, Meitei, Odia, Ol Chiki, Telugu.

Additionally, users can tweak and fine-tune the color and thickness of the font to achieve the desired aesthetic for their Contact Posters.

The latest Apple iOS 18 update has added a Live Voicemail Transcription feature in Indian English, enhancing Live Caller ID, introducing a smart call history search, and a revamped phone keypad search, in addition to improving the dialing experience.

With this update, users will now enjoy the 'multilingual keyboard' feature.

On Apple iPhone 12 and beyond models will let you type using phonetic letters with Latin characters in English, and up to two more Indian languages, offering a multilingual predictive typing feature for the users.

The latest feature is accessible in Notes, Messages, and any place where users can access the keyboard.

The keyboard that supports multiple languages will also enhance features like Emoji Prediction and QuickPath.

Additionally, the iPhone will offer alphabetical layouts for 11 Indian languages, allowing users to directly type in Indian scripts on the device.

The tech giant stated, "Keys are arranged in an alphabetical order, vowel and conjunct keys on the layouts change dynamically based on what the user is typing making it easier to find the correct character to type.”

Alphabetical layouts are available in 11 Indian languages: The principal vernaculars are Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Oriya, Punjabi, Tamil, Telegu, Urdu.

iOS update will also include some other updates such as better language search, translation application, multilingual Siri, move to iOS application, and additional control for the dual SIM.
