Roles and responsibilities: As a data scientist at Google, the candidate will evaluate and improve the company's products. He/she should collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and analysts on a wide range of problems. The position will bring scientific rigor and statistical methods to the challenges of product creation, development, and improvement with an appreciation for the behavior of the end-user. The candidate should work with large, complex data sets and solve difficult, non-routine analysis problems, applying advanced analytical methods as needed. He/she should build and prototype analysis pipelines iteratively to provide insights at scale. They are also expected to develop a comprehensive knowledge of Google data structures and metrics, advocating for changes where needed for product development.

Other qualifications:

  • The job demands a Master's degree in quantitative disciplines (Statistics, Operations Research, Bioinformatics, Economics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Electrical Engineering and Industrial Engineering) or equivalent practical experience.

Roles and responsibilities: At Google, the trust and safety teams are tasked with identifying and taking on the biggest problems that challenge the safety and integrity of its products. The specific team uses technical know-how, excellent problem-solving skills, user insights, and proactive communication to protect users and the company's partners from abuse across Google services like search, maps, Gmail, and Google Ads. As a senior data analyst for Ads Security, the candidate will work with cross-functional teams such as PM, Engineering, Sales, and legal, to devise strategies to outsmart the adversaries. One will particularly work on developing data-driven insights to improve the review operations, identify new trends in Malvertising, automation of processes and enforcement, feature engineering/signal development of machine learning models improvements, reverse engineering, etc.

The team follows the criteria by monitoring the risk environment across Alphabet and provides insights to enable effective risk management. One should be a data-loving person who serves as an analytics expert for their partners, using numbers to help them make better decisions. They should weave stories with meaningful insight from data. They should develop and automate reports, iteratively build and prototype dashboards to provide insights at scale, solving for business priorities.

  • The job mandates a Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience. Master's degrees in quantitative fields like Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Data Sciences, are highly preferred.
  • The candidate should have 3 years of experience working with statistical packages such as R, SAS, Stata, MATLAB, etc.
  • He/she should have experience with articulating product questions, pulling data from datasets, and using statistics.
