Samsung has introduced its next-generation virtual assistant, Bixby in China. The AI-powered assistant is now even more intuitive and responsive to the users. Bixby will come pre-installed on the newly launched Samsung Galaxy W25 series flip phones.
The next-gen Bixby can now receive even intricate commands issued in natural language. For example, the question "How to get there?" will be taken into consideration and Bixby will provide directions to the default location of a user, like the workplace.
The new AI assistant of Samsung is not limited to text-only responses but also provides video responses. It will do so by drawing upon web-related videos that enhance interactivity as well as usability for the assistant.
Another notable improvement is the web page translation capability of Bixby. The results it generates can also be exported to several versions of Microsoft Office, such as Word and PowerPoint. These improvements promise to accelerate productivity primarily for users who wish to simplify actions across applications.
Samsung further updated Bixby's user interface, this time with a minimalist approach to interface design, using the entire screen. The interface has a text field at the bottom of the screen, where users can interact with Bixby through both voice and text input. Any screen on the phone can access the assistant. Thus, allowing for easier use of the virtual assistant across the device.
The feature is so far available only in China as it has been rolled on the Galaxy W25 and Galaxy W25 Flip. Samsung has not revealed when the new Bixby version would be applied to other regions.
The company will place Bixby as a strong competitor with new updates on it. It will have AI capabilities that will assist in processing complex instructions, translate content, and give contextual answers.
The new Bixby updates show Samsung’s commitment towards bringing more comfort and productivity to everyday use of a smartphone.
