Meta announced the expansion of its AI chatbot, Meta AI, to six new countries, further extending its global reach. The UK, Brazil, Bolivia, Guatemala, Paraguay and the Philippines are now among the regions that can access Meta’s in-house artificial intelligence assistant on its social media platforms. This latest rollout is part of Meta’s broader strategy to enhance its AI offerings and engage a more diverse audience.
With Meta AI now available in these six new locations, users in these countries can access the AI chatbot directly through Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp by simply updating their apps. This expansion follows Meta’s previous July announcement, where it had rolled out the AI assistant to new regions such as India.
Meta has bigger plans for its AI assistant. The company confirmed that it is looking to expand Meta AI to 15 additional countries, including Algeria, Egypt, Indonesia, Iraq, Jordan, Libya, Malaysia, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Thailand, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates, Vietnam and Yemen.
Once these countries receive access, the total number of supported regions will increase to 43, making it a truly global platform. As part of this strategy, Meta is also working to localize the AI assistant for different regions. Support for the Tagalog language, which is widely spoken in the Philippines, has already been introduced.
Similarly, Meta has announced that the chatbot will soon be updated to support additional languages, such as Arabic, Indonesian, Thai, and Vietnamese, ensuring users can interact with the assistant in their preferred language.
In addition to expanding the AI assistant within its core social media platforms, Meta has also integrated voice-based AI capabilities into its Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses for users in the UK and Australia. The integration allows users to interact with the AI assistant hands-free, using voice commands for various functionalities.
However, the current rollout is limited to voice-only features. This means that the recently announced computer vision-based features, which allow the assistant to "see" and respond to visual cues, are not yet available in these countries.
The company has not provided a timeline for when these advanced features will be rolled out to the UK and Australia, but it’s a step forward in enhancing the usability of the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses. The move underscores Meta’s commitment to bringing its AI solutions to more devices, not just its popular social media apps.
Meta’s latest global expansion reflects its vision to create a more immersive and engaging experience for its users through artificial intelligence. By incorporating voice-based interaction and localized language support, Meta is making its AI assistant accessible and user-friendly for diverse audiences around the world.
With plans to expand to even more countries by the end of the year, Meta AI is well on its way to becoming a staple feature across its social platforms and smart devices globally, offering users a consistent AI experience across regions and languages.
