LG is making a big comeback in the smartphone market after exiting in 2021. The company has partnered with Samsung to work on the development of an AI-powered smartphone. The new AI smartphone which may be named Galaxy ixi-O, is expected to be launched in 2025.

Advanced AI Features: ixi-O Voice Assistant

LG introduced xi-O earlier this month in Korea. LG ixi-O is a cutting-edge personal assistant, in the new AI smartphone. Unlike other assistants, ixi-O will feature complex functionalities.

The new LG AI assistant has real-time voice phishing detection with capabilities of answering, summarising, and transcribing conversations. Samsung's Galaxy AI will complement ixi-O to enhance AI-driven functionality for the phone.

Availability and Launch Timeline

The Galaxy ixi-O is currently set to be launched in Q1 2025. The AI smartphone will initially be available to LG Uplus users in South Korea. Plans for wider availability with other mobile carriers in the region are expected. LG and Samsung are reportedly planning to unveil the device with the Galaxy S25 series scheduled for launch on January 22, 2025.

Global Availability Still A Bit Ambiguous

As of now, there is no clear indication of whether this AI smartphone will be commercially sold outside South Korea. It remains to be seen whether the new LG smartphone will be limited to being a regional product.
