Google is rolling out exciting new features for Google TV devices, with one of the most notable being custom AI-powered art screensavers. This new capability allows users to transform their idle screens into beautiful and unique pieces of art, powered by artificial intelligence (AI).
In addition, users can also use their own personal images from Google Photos to make it a screensaver. Google is also introducing a new home panel that will serve as a centralized smart home hub making it easier for users to control smart home devices from their TV.
Typically, when a smart TV is idle, it switches from the home screen to showing wallpapers as screensavers.There are three different methods available for generating custom AI art screensavers on Google TV.
The first method allows users to type in a prompt describing the kind of art they’d like to see. The second option is to select from a set of pre-designed templates, where users can choose the types of images they want from a curated selection of AI art. Lastly, there is an "Inspire Me" feature, which automatically generates a random piece of art for users to display as their screensaver.
For those who prefer more personalized options, Google Photos integration offers a great alternative. Users can use their favorite photos stored in Google Photos as screensavers. However, it’s important to note that users cannot pick individual images for the screensaver but will need to choose entire albums. This feature can only be used when logged into a Google account.
Setting up the new AI art screensavers on your Google TV is simple and can be done in just a few steps:
1. From the Google TV home screen, navigate to Settings.
2. Select System, then choose Ambient Mode.
3. Scroll through the list of screensaver options and select Custom AI Art. Click Create New to begin the customization.
4. Choose between three options to generate your screensaver:
- Describe your idea: Type a description of the art you’d like to see.
- Inspire Me: Let the AI create a random piece of art for you.
- Suggested templates: Pick from a variety of pre-designed templates.
5. After generating the artwork, scroll through the different variations using the up and down buttons.
6. Save the preferred image to your library.
7. If you want to generate more images, simply input additional prompts. Once you’re done, select Set all as screensaver to apply the images.
One other interesting thing is that the new Google TV has the so-called ‘art screensaver’ feature which is used to create beautiful cover displays of idle TVs in AI. The AI drawn or Google photo’s images enable viewers to begin to adopt some aspect of personalization in their viewing. Within a few clicks, you can easily convert your Google TV into a custom art piece that can serve as the main attraction in your home.
