BSNL has introduced its new fibre-based intranet TV service in selected parts of India. The new BSNL service launched last month is called ‘IFTV’.
Users can watch more than 500 live TV channels with IFTV. The company has launched the service in Madhya Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, enhancing its telecom operations. The IFTV service runs on BSNL's Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) network that renders seamless and high-quality live TV streaming.
Traditional TV services deduct the streaming data from the internet data packs of the users. In contrast, BSNL's IFTV service will not be using data from user’s FTTH plans. This allows customers to have unlimited data for TV streaming.
BSNL IFTV provides an exhaustive list of live TV channels in HD quality. It supports the major OTT platforms such as Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, YouTube, Disney + Hotstar, and ZEE5. In this way, a hybrid of live TV and streaming content can be viewed on a single platform.
The IFTV service by BSNL will be accessible to users with Android TV version 10 or higher. It is hassle-free to download BSNL Live TV from the Google Play Store and avail of the service. For FTTH customers, the IFTV service will be provided free of charge. BSNL assures unlimited streaming to all users.
BSNL has announced offering IFTV, as part of its total strategy for reliable, affordable, and high-quality services for its customers. It is brought as a subsequent step after the launch of Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) earlier this year. The BSNL Live TV service aims at providing hassle-free entertainment to millions of homes across India.
To access this service, BSNL customers can download the BSNL Selfcare app from the Play Store and subscribe. From then on, the users can browse their favourite live TV channels and stream freely through the BSNL Live TV application.
BSNL is sure to stand out in the highly competitive Indian telecom market by providing its clients with best-in-class live TV and OTT content, without data consumption worries. The availability of the IFTV service is expected to increase in other regions soon.
