At Apple's Glowtime event on Monday, the company introduced the Apple Watch Series 10, featuring major design refreshments and new health capabilities. The newest model brings sleep apnea tracking, a brighter OLED display, and a thinner design meant to make for a nicer experience and a better health companion.
One of the big features of the Series 10 is tracking sleep apnea. This uses the accelerometer in the watch to track the slight wrist movements associated with breathing disturbances. This new metric, Breathing Disturbances, enables the monitoring of disturbances in the user's sleep. Consecutive signs of sleep apnea will trigger notifications along with a comprehensive report and educational resources that will help the users discuss the problem with healthcare providers.
The introduction of the Apple Watch Series 10 moves Apple further along the path it has been on, packing advanced health features into its devices. Past versions have included ECG monitoring and fall detection, among others, while the new feature of sleep apnea tracking further builds upon the features set by its ancestors. This isn't the first time the company has channeled resources into health, future updates for AirPods Pro 2 are said to possess hearing aid-like features.
The Apple Watch Series 10 gets a refreshed design with more rounded corners and thinner bezels. This new wide-angle OLED screen is 40% brighter than its predecessor and boasts a faster refresh rate, even in the Always-On mode. It's also more subtly styled than before, with the Series 10 10% slimmer than the Series 9, at 9.7mm thick, for more comfortable wear daily.
The Apple Watch Series 10 begins at ₹46,900 onwards in India. This smartwatch is built out of both aluminum and titanium finishes in new colors. It will go in stores starting from September 20, 2024. Pre-orders can be done in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, India, Japan, UAE, the UK, the US, and over 49 other countries starting today itself. The new 42mm and 46mm cases work with bands compatible with earlier 41mm and 45mm models of Apple Watch.
The Series 10 will debut with watchOS 11, which introduces new watch faces that take full advantage of the larger display and faster refresh. watchOS 11 will also be available for Apple Watch Series 6 and later on September 16, 2024. Requires an iPhone Xs or later with iOS 18. Features are subject to change. Some features may not be available in all regions or on all devices.
