Apple is reportedly developing a new caller ID service called “Business Caller ID,” designed to help users identify legitimate businesses and combat the growing problem of spam calls. This service will allow businesses to register themselves with Apple ensuring that their identity is displayed accurately during calls, messages and promotional emails.

As part of Apple’s Business Connect platform, the new caller ID service will enable businesses to present key information such as their name, logo and department to Apple users. David Dorn, Apple’s senior director of Internet Software and Services Product, highlighted the importance of this feature, stating, "We designed Business Connect to empower businesses to present the best, most accurate information to Apple users. With today’s updates, we’re helping even more businesses reach customers, build trust, and grow."

A Solution for Spam and Scams

The Business Caller ID service is a significant step in tackling spam and scam calls. By allowing businesses to register their identities on the platform, Apple ensures that users can distinguish between legitimate business communications and unwanted spam calls. This feature mirrors popular services like Truecaller, which is widely known for its ability to filter out spam callers and provide caller information.

Apple Business Connect: A Digital Identity for Businesses

Apple’s new caller ID service will be integrated into the broader Apple Business Connect ecosystem. Companies of any size, whether they have physical locations or operate solely online, can register for the service using an Apple ID or create one for free to gain control over how they appear across the Apple ecosystem. This includes Apple Maps, Messages, Siri, Wallet and other services that reach a billion Apple devices globally.

The service will allow businesses to create a unique digital identity, helping users easily identify legitimate business communications. In markets where Apple Pay is available, the same identity will be used across transactions, further enhancing business visibility and user trust.

Available in 2025

As stated by Apple’s officials, users will start seeing Business Caller ID on calls, messages, and emails starting the beginning of the year 2025. The feature has been created to usurp spam and scam calls extending troubles to a large number of smartphone users while fostering useful interactions between Apple users and businesses.

This new service will enhance the reputation risk management abuse of businesses and the abuse phone calls made to users when interacting with businesses will be more free, safer and transparent.
