Microsoft is Putting AI to Work for a Sustainable Planet

Microsoft is using its machine learning technology Azure to fight climate changes, pollution, and other environmental complexities. Azure is providing AI-based computing solutions to work on environmental sustainability projects.

Our planet is currently facing a climate crisis and several large tech companies have come forward to assist scientists and researchers to improve the deteriorating situation. Microsoft has enabled its AI and machine learning technologies to fight against such anomalies and drive our planet towards a sustainable future.

The company has developed two APIs especially made for Earth and continues to work on more such technologies and initiatives. Among the two APIs, one is a land coverage mapping API and the other one is species classification.

Microsoft is functioning to ensure a global change. Recently in February, Microsoft has partnered with Accenture to help accelerate UK's low-carbon transition. The joint venture was named Avanade in which the two companies collaborated to help utility and energy companies change their energy systems and reduce the cost of decarbonizing the supply and demand of electricity in the country.

Microsoft Azure is deploying analytics, AI, and data visualization to empower companies to generate operational commercial and other meaningful insights from the generated data. The company is also employing AI to ensure that the wildlife is not adversely affected by the recent climate changes and the new wind farms.
