Sony basically claims that the PS5 collects data about its users on a default mode, which potentially might include every little detail about you, starting from your IP address to the videos and other content that you download, the games you like, and which influencers you stalk, along with the time and date of your activities! As creepy as it sounds, there are only a few ways through which you can subside Sony's unwanted intervention in your life. Besides, it's not just Sony, almost all big tech companies are secretly spying on their customers. Over the past couple of years, end-users of some of the massive tech companies have been complaining about these service providers monitoring them for their own needs, but there is only little that they can do to stop it!

Data collection has expanded its territory and companies, both big and small are selling your information to advertisers and tech giants. Thankfully, there are still some ways in which you can somehow prevent them from acquiring critical information about you, and this applies to your Sony PlayStation as well. Tech enthusiasts have noted that the company generally gets a large part of customer data via its Voice Chat feature. If your mic is on and you join a Voice Chat, the company records a five-chip rolling clip of your conversation. Sony claims that this measure is only taken to protect players from offensive conversations and enables the victims to report harassment. This feature cannot be opted out of since it is a part of the company's safety. But few changes in the settings can reduce the amount of data that Sony can get.

PS5 players can ensure that the microphone on the DualSense controller is turned off by default. This will at least offer some reassurance that they do not have a hot microphone always turned on during their gaming sessions. The mic is always listening and available by default, but there is also a menu option that can change these circumstances. But players have to keep in mind that Sony will continue to record voice chats once players turn their microphones on!
