Similar to the current iPad Pro sizes, Apple is anticipated to release the first OLED iPads in two sizes: a smaller 11.1-inch model and a bigger 13.1-inch one. Apple is sticking with lower screen sizes for the time being, although OLED iPad models may eventually reach 15 inches in size.
Rumors are circulating that OLED screens of Apple iPad Pro 2024 will be up to 15 inches in size and are being developed by BOE, an Apple supplier, possibly for use in a bigger iPad. Mark Gurman of Bloomberg reports that Apple is thinking about producing iPads larger than 12.9 inches.
OLED will provide better contrast, quicker refresh rates, and deeper blacks than the mini-LED technology that Apple now employs for the 12.9-inch iPad Pro.
Depending on how high Apple can enhance brightness, TV shows, movies, and other materials that employ high dynamic range lighting will seem far more realistic and true-to-life on an OLED display since each pixel's brightness can be independently regulated. Though this is less significant on a tablet-sized device than something like a TV, OLED panels are also renowned for having higher viewing angles than LED displays.
OLED screens are more energy-efficient than mini-LED ones, particularly when combined with Apple's dual-stack technology. The Apple iPad Pro versions with OLED displays should have longer battery lives, and this might make the iPad's always-on display feature possible.
Although there are certain drawbacks to OLED technology, including a burn-in and difficulty with maximum brightness, Apple is utilizing technology to lessen these concerns. Regretfully, it could result in a significant price increase for the original iPad Pro models. It's been reported that Apple wants "unrivaled" visual quality in addition to a thin and light design for the iPad display.
The M3 processor, which debuted in the MacBook Pro and iMac models, is anticipated to be included in the iPad Pro versions that will be released in 2024. The M3 processor, which is based on a 3-nanometer technology, is quicker in terms of both CPU and GPU than the M2 chip found in the current iPad Pro versions.
There's a chance that the next iPad Pro may feature MagSafe charging. According to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg back in 2021, Apple was thinking about adding a glass back to the iPad Pro 2022 so that MagSafe wireless charging would be possible. Wireless charging, a glass back, and significant design modifications were absent from the 2022 iPad Pro versions; however, it's plausible that Apple reserved these features for a later release.
Apple may be preparing to release a glass-backed iPad Pro with Qi-based charging and MagSafe compatibility in the upcoming year. It's also possible that the "MagSafe" charging for the iPad that we're hearing about is a Mac-style magnetic charger instead of an iPhone-style one, but that is still up in the air.
The front-facing camera on the forthcoming iPad Pro is anticipated to be located on the side of the device rather than the top, allowing it to be upright when the iPad is used in a landscape mode. The camera of the latest iPad Pro is located at the top, thus it is only upright when the device is in portrait mode.
For products like the Magic Keyboard that are used with stands and keyboards, having an upright camera while the iPad is in landscape mode makes sense. With this modification, an iPad Pro connected to the Magic Keyboard will be able to stay in that position for FaceTime and other types of video conversations.
Apple may provide up to 4TB of storage, which is twice as much as the current 2TB cap. There are now four storage options for the iPad Pro: 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB.
A third-generation Apple Pencil with replaceable magnetic tips has been rumored; if such a pencil is indeed in development, it may launch with updated iPad Pro versions.
To make the iPad Pro appear more like a laptop than it does now, the updated iPad Pro models with OLED screens will be paired with a new Magic Keyboard that has a bigger touchpad.
Early in May, Apple is anticipated to unveil the OLED iPad Pro variants. Rumor had it that the iPad Pro models will launch in March or April, but Apple could be experiencing delays due to low OLED panel production rates.
