University College London offers 100 scholarships for Indian students

The University College London (UCL) has announced the launch of the UCL India Excellence Scholarships, which will give financial assistance to 100 of India's brightest students pursuing master's degrees at UCL. The scholarships, which will be given to students with great academic records, will be worth £5,000 and will be used to fund their education. UCL has also announced plans for its first-ever Summer School in India, which will provide pre-university students with a taste of what it is like to study at the famed UK university. The scholarships are presently open for applications, with a February 29, 2024 deadline.

On Tuesday, University College London unveiled a new scholarship program that would allow 100 of India's top students to study in the UK. The UCL India Excellence Scholarships will provide financial assistance to Indian students with an exceptional academic record who wish to pursue full-time master's degree studies at UCL.

According to a UCL statement, 33 scholarships will be offered for the 2024-25 academic year and will be granted to excellent students who have earned or are on track to earn a first-class degree.

A total of 67 scholarships will be given over the next two years.

Prospective master's students in any subject can earn £5,000 as part of the UCL India Excellence Scholarships.

UCL has also announced plans for its inaugural Summer School in India, to be held at The British School's state-of-the-art campus in New Delhi, to give pre-university Indian students a taste of what it's like to study at a world-leading UK institution.

"Indian students are vital members of UCL's global community," said Dr Michael Spence, president and provost of UCL. "We are dedicated to providing more resources and support to help the very best of them share their knowledge and expertise with us in the UK."

On November 20, 2023, UCL will unveil the new possibilities at a reception at the British High Commission house in New Delhi.

"I'm delighted that many of India's brightest young people recognize the value of studying at a world-class institution like UCL," said Christina Scott, deputy high commissioner. The partnerships they will establish will strengthen ties between India and the United Kingdom, which will benefit everyone."

The first UCL India Summer School will be held between June 10 and 14, 2024, with five top UCL academics presenting courses to 50 students in years 10 and 11, working in small groups.

The India Excellence Scholarships are presently accepting applications. The application date is February 29, 2024. The UCL India Summer School application period will start on December 1, 2023. There are also a limited number of full scholarship spots available
