What's New Today: India's IT firms scale back recruitment amid economic woes

Fast-Track Insights: Franklin Templeton Applies for Spot Ethereum ETF in US

According to The Information, OpenAI is creating "agent software," which will effectively take over your smartphone and do sophisticated tasks on your behalf. OpenAI's agent would interact with several programmes on your computer, executing clicks, cursor movements, and text input. It's a completely new operating system that might transform the way you interact with your computer.

According to The Economic Times, India's largest IT businesses are recruiting fewer people, with headcounts at prominent firms such as TCS, Infosys, and Wipro declining for four consecutive quarters.

To compensate for attrition, many organisations have considerably reduced recruiting, particularly for entry-level roles. This is mostly owing to the uncertain demand environment in global markets, notably the United States and Europe.

Franklin Templeton has applied for a spot Ethereum exchange-traded fund (ETF), according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The asset management joins BlackRock, Fidelity, Ark and 21Shares, Grayscale, VanEck, Invesco and Galaxy, and Hashdex, all of which have applied in recent months.

The petition comes around four weeks after Franklin and nine other issuers created a spot bitcoin ETF. BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) and Fidelity's Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund (FBTC) have had the most demand for their funds. Meanwhile, Franklin has had a less successful start, with only about US$70 million in inflows since its establishment.
