It is not wrong to say that India is becoming the next AI superpower. Not only do we have a lot of businesses using AI to solve challenges that are specifically Indian, but the government has also done a lot to further establish India as a future AI leader.
Given that it had not filed any AI-related patents before 2002, India was rated eighth among the top 10 nations by AI patent families globally. According to a Nasscom report, the previous five years have seen a considerable increase in artificial intelligence (AI)-related innovation in India, with over 4,000 AI patents being filed during that time, which is six times more than the amount for the period between 2011 and 2015.
A powerful AI infrastructure known as AIRAWAT—a cloud computing infrastructure for India that is primarily focused on offering AI-specific services—was unveiled by NITI Aayog in January 2020 as part of their strategy to develop the infrastructure. There is little doubt that in the forthcoming technological era, AI and automation can revolutionise government operations, healthcare, education, and commercial relationships with customers. We won't be long until we can clearly see that AI has seized control globally.
