Is AI the Savior of the Human Race or its Antagonist?

To some who use AI in their daily life is AI the savior of the human race or AI is the antagonist

Talk to most individuals, and they'll tell you that is AI the savior of the human race or AI is the antagonist. But how does AI appear to someone who uses it daily? Daniel Bruce is the Chief Product Officer at Levatas, an AI start-up collaborating with Boston Dynamics, a maker of industrial robots, to give its machines what Bruce refers to as "cognitive intelligence" to go along with the "athletic intelligence" they already have.

The robot worker program's success will depend on this synthesis of functions, according to Bruce, who anticipates significant advancements in this and other artificial intelligence initiatives within the next five years. Naturally, this heralds some substantial shifts in how the human species maintains and passes on the material lifestyle.

The goal of Boston Dynamics is to create the best-in-class robot capable of navigating very challenging and chaotic settings. Barriers including staircases, debris heaps, and, in an industrial setting, crawling under or climbing over them to reach equipment, being able to read gauges, get near enough to a piece of equipment to verify the thermal reading, and other such things.

Because it was built with the capacity to balance itself, this robot can go across slick terrain without tripping. It can correct itself and find out how to stand back up in a variety of conditions if something were to cause it to fall over. It is therefore specifically designed to negotiate areas that regular tracked or wheeled robots would not be able to.

Business executives are already benefiting from AI by automating routine tasks, obtaining insights through sophisticated data analytics, both predictive and post-event, and interacting with clients and staff through chatbots that can understand natural language. Deep Knowledge Ventures (DKV), a venture capital company in Hong Kong, made history in 2017 when it appointed the first AI robot, Vital, to the board of directors. This was due to AI's capacity to analyze and calculate far more information than humans. DKV has chosen to refrain from making any productive investment decisions without Vital's consent.

Correct illness diagnosis requires years of training and experience for doctors. Recent developments in AI, particularly Deep Learning algorithms, have greatly improved the accuracy and accessibility of illness diagnosis. The AI-based system can diagnose diseases better than humans after only a few hours of training in which it is exposed to millions of scans and photos of diseases.

Research that appeared in Nature (January 2020) found that AI is more reliable than doctors in detecting breast cancer from Mammograms. AI has been crucial in accelerating the Covid pandemic's diagnosis, vaccine development, and treatment plan. Although it is unlikely that AI would completely replace physicians, it would improve their skills. The expert will employ AI algorithms to find patterns, freeing the doctor to concentrate on the analysis of the signals.

Similarly, to this, AI-enabled algorithms are frequently utilized to carry out mundane tasks, freeing up human labor for more intelligent and creative tasks. Man, and machine must be able to operate together in an environment that allows them to accomplish tasks to the best of their abilities while balancing each other's strengths and shortcomings. AI and human intellect should be more intelligent together than they are alone. The artificial enhancement of human skills, which is growing in scope and magnitude, has the potential to change how we live, work, and use our free time.

On the other hand, AI is growing to be too strong to be allowed to operate in the open. The late Stephen Hawking similarly voiced concern that potential advances in artificial intelligence "may herald the end of the human race." AI will produce a "useless class" of people, claims Professor Yuval Noah Harari, a historian, philosopher, and best-selling author of Sapiens and Homo Deus.

The AI-enabled algorithms are frequently criticized for being prejudiced against particular societal groups. The Correctional Offender Management Profiling for Alternative Sanctions (COMPAS) AI program, which is used in courts throughout the US to forecast future crimes, was shown to be biased toward Black defendants in a 2016 ProPublica study. In 2017, the AI program Beauty.AI, which was used to judge an international beauty contest in Bengaluru, caused a scandal by selecting the winners exclusively based on skin tone.

Another example of how AI may be abused is deepfake. To show the potential for AI technology to be misused, American comedian Jordan Peel faked a video of President Barack Obama criticizing President Donald Trump in 2018. He did this using some of the most recent AI methods.
