Cloud computing is beneficial for Indian businesses as the government supports cloud adoption

On-demand, pay-per-use cloud solutions are becoming increasingly popular among small businesses with limited infrastructure and manpower. They are using the cloud for storage or to improve their business capabilities by using SaaS. One way or the other, the cloud has become basic for MSMEs.

MSMEs joined the ranks of large corporations by adopting cloud computing and utilizing scalable, secure, and enterprise-grade technology to expand their capabilities.

By 2026, NASSCOM predicts that Cloud technology will contribute between 5% and 8% of GDP. This shared digital infrastructure space aka Cloud, has the potential to generate employment opportunities at unprecedented growth.

Indian businesses' transformation has been led by the "Digital MSME" and "Digital India" programs, which have encouraged them to use Cloud platforms for communications and IT applications. MSMEs have been able to move economically to cutting-edge applications and infrastructure by reducing their CAPEX (Capital Expenditure) infrastructure.

Several cloud providers, including AWS, GCP, and Azure, are developing platforms that meet the requirements of a variety of businesses and offering assistance to those businesses to help them implement cloud computing in their operations without requiring sufficient technical expertise. Businesses have found it much simpler to set up accounts, connect to cloud platforms, store files, and access cloud-based SaaS applications. This has allowed them to grow, maintain business continuity, and be resilient.

On-demand services, pay-as-you-go cloud computing, and the exemption from upfront commitment are helping small businesses in shifting their costs from CAPEX to OPEX. Additionally, the perfect ecosystem for their adoption is being created by government policies. The "Digital MSME" program was launched in India by the Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises to provide micro and small businesses with a subsidy of up to Rs 1 lakh to encourage them to use cloud computing for ICT applications.

MSMEs gain the following advantages by using the cloud for storage:

Near-Infinite Storage: MSMEs could either store backups of business data or documents or use cloud-based storage as a file-sharing platform for improved remote worker collaboration.

More adaptability and dependability: Businesses benefit from paying for only the limit utilized, and not over-arrangement for future requirements. The durability of cloud storage is amazing. They typically offer Eleven 9s Durability, which could roughly imply that even if one billion objects were stored in the cloud, you would probably not lose a single one for a hundred years. Additionally, the data is typically replicated to multiple data centers, increasing availability even in the event of a local disaster.

Data Safety: Even though the data is stored in a public cloud, it can be easily configured to offer the least privileges or prevent unauthorized access even at the file level, thereby reducing or eliminating the likelihood of data tampering.

While adopting the cloud has many advantages, our Indian businesses must also deal with several challenges, such as prioritizing migration, lack of planning, employee training, and unrealistic timelines. One of the normal legends among organizations is to have quick expense investment funds from their reception of cloud platforms.

In contrast, despite the costs associated with the aforementioned difficulties, investments that are strategically made will not only yield higher returns but will also assist businesses with productivity and scalability.

There is a symbiotic relationship between educational institutions and businesses: the more educational institutions create cloud-ready courses and workforces and the more businesses will encourage cloud adoption, which will improve employment opportunities and contribute to India's GDP and economy.
