From self-driving cars to intuitive automatic vacuum cleaners, AI has taken over every industry and government organization around the world. Artificial intelligence is an emerging focus area of policy development in India. Many governments have begun to implement AI across various small-scale pilots. But many are still limited to implementation and experimentation. If implemented effectively, AI tools can generate benefits for both private and public-sector organizations.
AI-based tools can parse an unlimited amount of data, and this allows legislators to have dialogues with large constituents, analyse diverse opinions, participate remotely in plenary and committee meetings, and more. Using this technology can help the governments to better meet the needs of their citizens while making enhanced use of the taxpayers' money.
India has a unique advantage of utilizing its huge digital capital for AI development. The government can initiate an artificial intelligence task force to aid in the economic, political, and legal sectors of the government. In private sectors like manufacturing, banking, retail, e-commerce, and supply chain management, AI can prove to become a huge benefactor to drive innovation the country's tech development and benefit the citizens in every way possible.
Even though the development of AI in India has been a fragmented delivery process, the government is still contemplating its use in education and the defence sectors. The Indian army is already using AI algorithms and applications in its defence surveillance systems. But most of the existing initiatives driven towards AI by the government are focused on the economic and financial growth of the country, and not towards a particular sector.
Even though the innovation is still under-development, India's tech industry will soon forth come with new AI tech innovations to benefit the countries' citizens.
