Hacking NFT can’t Make You the Owner! Learn it Seth Green’s Way
Green lashed out at hackers and those who try to steal NFTs from people and is hoping he can provide some help for others.
After a scammer swiped comedian Seth Green’s NFT collection, robbing him of the Bored Ape he planned to feature in his upcoming animated show, BuzzFeed News spoke to the person claiming to be the ape’s current owner. The pseudonymous collector, who has said they are an Australian surgeon with a side hustle, believes they “bought it in good faith” and conceded that they have no plans for the NFT — including repatriating it to Green.
The upcoming project, White Horse Tavern, based on a BoredApe NFT named Fred Simian, has been in the works for some time, but – per a report from BuzzFeed – it has since been halted as Green technically no longer owns the rights to the character after a phishing scam.
“I bought that ape in July 2021, and have spent the last several months developing and exploiting the IP to make it into the star of this show,” said Green during the Web3 conference, VeeCon. “Then days before — his name is Fred by the way — days before he’s set to make his world debut, he’s literally kidnapped.”

The Ape named Fred was acquired by Green over six months ago. Without owning Fred, aka Bored Ape #8398, which has traits like Halo (3% of Apes) and Bone Tee (2% of Apes), there are questions on if Green can release his show as planned.
