Women Who Code & VMware Partner to Retrain 15,000 Women for Technical Jobs in India

The Program, VMinclusion Taara, Will Empower People Who Have Left Tech Jobs with Training to Allow Them to Rejoin the Industry, Women Have Begun Registering, and Leading Corporations in India Have Pledged Support for the Initiative.  

Women Who Code (WWCode), the world's largest and most active community dedicated to inspiring women to succeed in tech, has partnered with VMware, Inc., a leading innovator in enterprise software. VMinclusion Taara is a joint initiative to train and upskill 15,000 people who have left the industry and help them return to work. The program is off to a great start with program registrants and support from leading corporations such as Airtel, Dimension Data, Cognizant, and Dell.

The program is one of WWCode's biggest reskilling and back-to-work initiatives, VMinclusion Taara, began accepting applicants on December 1st, 2018 at www.vmware.com/taara. It consists of free training and certification on advanced digital transformation solutions including foundation level training courses on digital business transformation, professional level training courses on virtualization software for multi-cloud and hybrid cloud platforms and infrastructure and advanced tracks on data center virtualization, cloud management and automation, network virtualization, and digital workspace technologies

Women Who Code CEO and Board Chair, Alaina Percival said, "While the number of women enrolling in STEM education and STEM professions is on the rise in India, an estimated 45% of women in India working in tech will quit the industry after 8 years. That is right when they would otherwise start being most profitable for their companies. There are a variety of reasons for this, but with VMinclusion Taara we are working to create a path of re-entry for women who wish to return to the workforce, by empowering them with free training so they can get up to speed with the skills needed to be effective in the ever-evolving tech industry."
