Generative AI: The AI Flagbearer of The Year 2022
Published on

Artificial intelligence, as was presumed, was mostly about developing chatbots. As the year 2022 began, generative AI ushered in shaky steps only to become the 'big-bang' concept in Silicon Valley. All the hype around the so-called futuristic concepts such as cryptocurrency and Metaverse faded, and the generative AI chalked its way surreptitiously from being the bleeding-edge technology to an application on a common man's mobile phone. From generating images to generating code to making a movie out of simple text prompts generative AI is making the creative world go upside down. Stable Diffusion, Dall E, Dream fusion, Copilot, and many more. The year 2022 has seen too many Generative AIs for users and analysers to ignore them. Now internet is awash with AI generated images created by people.

Infarct, the concept of generative AI has been on the radar since 2014 but due to its inherent flaws, the applications couldn't gain much popularity. They have got more reliable with more creative control in the hands of users, leading to model development in more human centric ways. Today's models are equipped with interactive interfaces allowing users to highlight, regenerate and reconfigure what they want.

The greatest development in 2022, perhaps would be the way big-tech companies with data, compute power, and market presence are productizing generative AI tools. Microsoft is already into developing creative office tools leveraging the access it has to OpenAIs technologies. Adobe, the leading player in the image processing tool market, is actively working towards integrating generative AI into its tools. This is all happening in spite of the hurdles generative AI has to cross to become generative in a true sense.
