Get used to lifelong learning because disruptive technologies are advancing in a rapid pace. The speed of change is such that learning becomes constant. So being retired for decades and learning till the 20s is not an option. Self-motivated learning is an important trait that will help you keep up with the learning curve.
The computers we use today cannot be compared to the intelligence of a 5-year-old boy who can converse about a number of topics while walking, picking up objects, and recognising people's emotions. Today's computer perform tasks that are programmed for it, while humans have general intelligence that can be altered according to the situation. But in the future, these things might change. We will be working in alignment with AI and disruptive technologies might dictate our careers as well. By changing our outlook towards work, developing necessary skillsets, and embracing life-long learning, a profession can thrive in these uncertain times and the constant change that technology will bring in the future.
