Double Danger Looms over Twitter: Attrition Rate at 18%
Published on

Is the end of Twitter here already? The headquarters witnessed an 18.3% attrition rate.

The employee attrition rate at the Twitter headquarters is now 18.3%. The company is facing a double whammy of a looming recession and the legal crisis ahead even as it is accused of lies and falsehood and getting hands in gloves with a government that nulls dissenting voices. Before Elon Musk's takeover offer of $44 billion, the company's attrition rate was 14-16%. These worrying figures have emerged in a staff meeting conducted recently as reported by Reuters.

During the meeting, a query was submitted about hiring or promoting more junior employees amid escalating exodus. Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal responded that the only way forward for the company to deliver was to narrow its focus to fewer things and that be proportionate to the number of people. Meanwhile, the company is facing the heat as Elon Musk's attorneys are serving subpoenas to its former staff including founder Jack Dorsey and former Chief of Security Peiter Zatok. Peiter has come forward with a series of allegations that is set to blow in the face of Twitter. The renowned security pro has had a very bitter stint in the company as he was terminated in January 2022. Zatok has accused Parag Agrawal of lying about bots, even as the latter has responded to accusations. Bot counts have been the beef between Elon Musk and Twitter. Musk has taken potshots at Parag amid the acquisition bid calling him out. While Musk's antics are questionable, Parag's shoddy defense didn't seem to validate the company's claim of less than 5% bots. Even Bot Sentinel's director agrees. Heck, even Jack Dorsey is on the same page as his buddy Musk.

Twitter Vs Musk will be one of the most high-profile legal showdowns of the decade with more employees jumping ship. However, Musk isn't overly confident of the outcome of the case to commence on October 17th. The Tesla boss has sold over $6.9 billion worth of company shares anticipating the worst. It wouldn't be a cakewalk for the bird app either with more skeletons to tumble down the closet.
