Did Apple Just Door Deliver its Chance of Making the World’s Best ML Model to Google?

Apple and Google are now on the edge over great scientists like Ian Goodfellow

Dominating the artificial intelligence domain is quite a big deal in a society where the future creators are more concerned to be driven by technology, leveraging the best of what emerging technologies have to offer, and serving the customers in a far better form. As usual, tech giants like Google, Apple, and Microsoft are at the forefront of innovation, researching different ways, to gain a competitive advantage against each other. Big tech companies push for cut-throat competition, and even the slightest mistake can disrupt their reputation. Apple seems to have made quite a similar mistake and probably has given Google a great advantage to develop the world’s most powerful machine learning model.

Apple has let one of the greatest machine learning developers of all times, Ian Goodfellow, walk out of its doors. And according to reports, he is thinking about walking straight into the Google office where he will be working for the DeepMind research team. His contributions to the field of machine learning can never be underestimated. Goodfellow invested in the GAN, which is a neural network that learns how to create content by fooling itself, and even the humans. The most unique thing about a GAN is that it functions by pitching two neural networks against each other. Without GANs, humans would have to personalize and tweak every single generative iteration.

Earlier, Goodfellow invented the GAN at the Google Brain, where he solved computer vision and ML security complexities. And when he left the firm and became the director of machine learning at Google, the tech world was amazed! It was certainly a huge loss for the Google Brain team. Fast-forwarding to the current stage of Google’s AI and ML initiatives, the company has grown exponentially. Google’s DeepMind is constantly on the news due to its advanced tech innovations. It seems like Apple is falling short of one of its greatest assets, which could actually be a huge disadvantage for the company.
