Delhi’s Pollution Comes Back Again, but AI and Drones Will Fight It!
Published on

In order to develop a more comprehensive strategy for the prevention, control, and eradication of air pollution in Delhi, the Commission of Air Quality Management in NCR and adjoining areas have decided to draw on the technical and academic expertise of renowned educational institutions that have been working on the eradication of the air pollution. Delhi's air-quality board has approved seven projects that involve the use of artificial intelligence and drones for real-time air quality monitoring and to check the number of vehicles.

Some of the other projects include the installation of air purification systems in various marketplaces in Delhi and the refitting of air cleaners in buses. The projects are under the strict supervision of different technical and academic institutes like the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, and the National Environmental Engineering Research Institute.

These projects will focus on the deployment of artificial intelligence tools for counting vehicles and addressing vehicular traffic-induced road dust re-suspension with action plans based on science and technology. Besides these, the autonomous drone swarm framework will also be used for real-time air quality monitoring and decision support systems for air quality management in Delhi and bordering districts.

Almost every industry in India is deploying AI and its adjoining technologies to ensure productivity and accuracy in their operations. Time-consuming processes are being replaced by autonomous drone systems to integrate more efficiency and productivity. Implementing drones and AI to eradicate or atleast reduce the pollution in Delhi might be a successful attempt.
