Numerous public sector organizations and private companies in India have made a shift from data centers to cloud infrastructures. This is expected to result in the reduction of energy consumption and carbon emission by approximately 80% as reported by Amazon Web Services (AWS).
A Report by 451 Research found that in India, cloud service suppliers who utilize the local renewable energy market to run their business operations can foster carbon emissions savings.
Ken Haig, the head of Energy Policy, AWS affirmed that customers in APAC who shifted compute workloads to the AWS cloud can majorly lessen their carbon emission.
In 2019, Amazon co-founded The Climate Pledge – a dedication to be net-zero carbon across its business by 2040. AWS said it is taking steady steps toward reaching its broad goal of using 100% renewable energy by 2025.
Puneet Chandok, President Commercial Business, AWS India and South Asia, AISPL said Indian companies can easily decarbonize the country by shifting into cloud technologies. Many Indian startups are already developing low-carbon solutions. Now all the companies, the public sector, and enterprises must take into consideration the sustainability of the country and take the critical cloud migration decision.
AWS attempts to initiate net carbon neutrality goals in India. It includes initiatives in infrastructure regulation, renewable energy, water sustainability, electric mobility, sustainable packaging, and creating consciousness via community engagement.
Cloud data centers use the latest and most energy-efficient servers, which run at higher utilization rates than traditional data centers. This factor enables cloud data centers to use 67.4% less energy.
Amazon India is taking the initiative to include 10,000 electric vehicles for its fast delivery by 2025. It is a commitment made by Amazon India to decarbonize the country. Amazon India has been working with several Indian partners to develop fast vehicles that secure sustainability and safe deliveries of customer orders.
