This initiative offers $5,000 data science scholarships to U.S.-based students from diverse backgrounds who are enrolled in a full-time post-secondary degree program such as Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Information Quality, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, and Statistics or related areas of study.  Scholarship for data scientists seeks to help the next generation of leaders pursue their goals through computer science and information technology careers.

2. ACM SIGHPC Computational & Data Science Fellowship

The Association for Computing Machinery's Special Interest Group on High-Performance Computing (SIGHPC) provides the Computational & Data Science Fellowship worth US$15,000 annually to Master's or Doctoral students conducting research with large-scale big data. Eligible nominees of this Scholarship for data scientists will be females or members of racial minority groups who have completed less than half of their computing degrees at accredited U.S. colleges and are aspiring data scientists.

3. Ike Wai Graduate Scholarship Program

Funded by the National Science Foundation, the Ike Wai Graduate Scholarship is one of the top data science scholarships that belong to the Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR) Hawaii Program. It provides US$29,148 annually to full-time graduate research assistants at the University of Hawaii-Manoa who are earning research-based Masters or Doctoral degrees in geoscience, data science, engineering, social science, and Hawaiian language. The term is two-year big data and data science scholarships and there is a requirement for working 20 hours weekly at an Ike Wai research lab on projects that focus on Aloha State's future water security data management.

4. Erik Duval Travel Scholarship

One of the main goals of SoLAR is to develop the field of learning analytics for aspiring data scientists through the formation of a new generation of researchers. This Scholarship for data scientists seeks ways to facilitate the access of early-career researchers to the events that define the learning analytics community. The most important of these initiatives is the travel scholarships named after the late Professor Erik Duval, a beloved member of the learning analytics community. The Society for Learning Analytics Research accepts applications for a limited number of scholarships to fund doctoral and master's students who are currently enrolled and in good standing in any program related to learning analytics and data science to attend SoLAR's Learning Analytics Summer Institute (LASI).

5. Bloomberg's Data Science Ph.D. Fellowship

The goal of this Scholarship for data scientists is to provide support and encouragement for a successful Ph.D. candidate, including ground-breaking publications in both academic journals and conference proceedings, application development, open-source contributions, and/or other forms of research dissemination. Milliman will grant 15 to 25 awards of at least US$5,000 or more. There is no guaranteed renewal of awards, but students or aspiring data scientists may reapply every year if they meet the eligibility requirements of the programs. These awards are only available to undergraduate students. Finalists will be selected by Scholarship America based on their academic records and the essays they submit.

7. MinneAnalytics Data Science Scholarships

MinneAnalytics offers one of the top data science scholarships to undergraduate students who display a passion for pursuing a career in analytics and a commitment to engaging with the community. The number of awards has increased annually since 2015. In 2021, awards in the amount of US$1000 have been issued to more than 30 students from colleges and universities across the Midwest. Once approved, participating schools will be asked to select a student meeting scholarship criteria to receive a US$1,000 award.

8. Netherlands Government Scholarship 2022

The Netherlands Government Scholarship under Orange Knowledge Scholarship is a Fully Funded Scholarship for International Students to Study a Full-Time Master's Degree Program or Short Courses Funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Dutch Ministry has initiated an Orange Knowledge Program Scholarship (OKP) which is a Fully Funded Scholarship to Study in the Netherlands. More than 1,000 areas of Study are available for aspiring data scientists. This scholarship for data scientists is awarded to a student pursuing a degree from an academic program (undergraduate or higher) that engenders the use of Management Engineering. In addition to the US$5,000 scholarship award, the recipient will also receive a trip to the HIMSS Global Health Conference and Exhibition under some conditions. The applicant at the time the scholarship is awarded must be of a student in an accredited undergraduate, Master's, or Ph.D. program related to data management in the healthcare management systems field. S/he also cannot be employed or in contract with HIMSS.

10. Strong Data Science Scholarship

Strong Analytics, a data science consulting and machine learning development firm, is offering a $1,000 (USD) scholarship to secondary and post-secondary students interested in pursuing a career in data science. The goal of this scholarship is to encourage motivated students or aspiring data scientists to engage with data science projects and learn the tools and techniques to enable them to make a positive impact through data. These projects can be on any topic, though they must use publicly-available, open-access data.
