The qualifying candidates for the course IIT Madras BS Program in Data Science include students who have completed class 12 from a recognized board regardless of their age or educational qualification. Students who meet the eligibility criteria can apply for admission to the program right away. The students of Class 11 can also enroll in this course regardless of their board/stream.
Applicants who meet the eligibility criteria can begin their application process by completing a straightforward application form and payment of an application fee.
Regular Entry: Qualifying for Foundation Level admission is open to all applicants regardless of their background.
JEE-based entry: Students qualified to appear for the current JEE Advanced Exam will get direct enrolment to the Foundational level.
To qualify for the Foundation Level for IIT Madras BS Program in Data Science all regular entry candidates must complete the Qualifier Process.
Qualifying coursework consists of 4 weeks of lectures, assignments and live sessions in each of the 4 foundational level courses that will be offered through our online platform. The subjects include English I, Maths I, Statistics I, and Computational Thinking. Students are required to submit an assignment for grading in the course.
After your 4 weeks, you will take a qualifying exam based on what you have learned during your 4 weeks tenure of the course.
For each course, the score will be calculated as the average of the top 2 out of the top 3 first assignment scores. Only candidates who achieve the minimum minimum average assignment score in all 4 courses (listed below) will be eligible to take the Qualifier Exam.
Once the IIT Madras authority has verified your JEE advanced proof, you will be able to directly enroll in foundation-level courses.
After that, the applicant is required to pay the course fees to enroll in courses (English 1 courses, Maths 1 courses, Statistics 1 courses, Computational Thinking courses). You will be able to enroll in 1, 2, 3, or 4 courses depending on the amount of time you need to study.
The college will let you know when you can enroll in courses. You will only be able to access content once you have registered for courses.
Once the candidate has registered, the candidate can continue with the program as a full-time student.
The student continues with the program even after joining another college or degree.

The BS team at IIT Madras is also actively improving the chances for students who score well. The team is working with various top-tier institutes to allow Degree level BS candidates to attend courses on their campuses and credit these courses into the program. This allows them to interact with the faculty face-to-face and explore ways of collaborating with them. The program has also created positions of teaching assistants and mentors who help students in the course and provide them with academic support. The teaching assistants and mentors are provided with hostel accommodation at IITM for the duration of their work.
Students from any geographical location is eligible to apply for the BS in Data Science offered by IIT Madras. The age of the students must be between 17 to 81 years.
