Gary Gensler, the chair of the Securities and Exchange Commission, came under fire from Republicans on the House Financial Services Committee before a congressional hearing on the organization on Tuesday, claiming that his approach to crypto firms was not "compatible" with existing legislation. Republicans on the committee claimed in a letter that because cryptocurrencies might be used for non-investment purposes, national securities exchange (NSE) standards do not mesh well with digital assets.
