Coinbase shares  jumped around 16% after the crypto exchange reached an agreement with Cboe's BZX

Shares of Coinbase jumped as much as 16% Tuesday after the cryptocurrency exchange agreed with Cboe's BZX Exchange to maintain a surveillance-sharing agreement for five of its spot bitcoin exchange-traded fund (ETF) applications. Crypto Price Movement 

Bitcoin price stood at $30,630.57, registering a 24-hour jump of 0.58 percent, as per CoinMarketCap. The global crypto market cap stood at 1.18 trillion, with a volume of nearly $32.31 billion in the last 24 hours. Popular altcoins — including the likes of Ethereum (ETH), Dogecoin (DOGE), Litecoin (LTC), Solana (SOL), and Ripple (XRP) — saw minor movements across the board.

In a press release on Tuesday, the U.S. Attorney's Office of the Southern District of New York announced the indictment of Shakeeb Ahmed, 34, calling him "a senior security engineer for an international technology company whose resume reflected skills in, among other things, reverse engineering smart contracts and blockchain audits, which are some of the specialized skills Ahmed used to execute the attack."

With an attack of this magnitude, we must ensure continued consumer confidence in our financial system. Ruthless and reckless attempts to sabotage legitimate commerce for greed must be stopped. Coinbase shares rise amid Bitcoin ETF optimism

Shares of Coinbase jumped as much as 16% Tuesday after the crypto exchange agreed with Cboe's BZX Exchange to maintain a surveillance-sharing agreement for five of its spot bitcoin exchange-traded fund (ETF) applications.

The shares climbed to a high of $92.15.

The agreement was settled on June 21 for each of these applications, amendments to the original filings filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on Tuesday showed. The earlier filings stated that the exchange "expects to enter into a surveillance-sharing agreement with Coinbase."

Winklevoss twins take strike two with crypto hype

Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss have kept busy since their 2008 feud with Mark Zuckerberg over who came up with the idea for the social network Facebook. The twins took a $65 million settlement from that spat, invested some in Bitcoin, launched a cryptocurrency exchange, and even went on tour as a musical duo covering songs by Blink-182. But the music stopped last year as the cryptocurrency industry lost over $1 trillion in value – and the twins have once again found themselves at the mercy of technology's latest hype cycle.

CBDC gets a green signal from BIS

In preparation for a meeting of the G20 finance ministers and central bank governors this month, the Bank for International Settlements Innovation Hub (BISIH) submitted two reports — on cryptocurrency and central bank digital currencies (CBDCs) — on July 11. The reports reached very different conclusions about the related technologies.

According to Cointelegraph, The BISIH report on crypto Is the shorter of the two publications at 24 pages. It provided a short overview of the crypto ecosystem of cryptocurrencies, stablecoins, and decentralized finance (DeFi), followed by a laundry list of "[s]tructural flaws and risks."
