Claude 3: A New Addition to Amazon Bedrock

Amazon Bedrock welcomes Claude 3 now available for generative AI applications!

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has announced that Anthropic's Claude 3 family of cutting-edge models (with industry-leading accuracy, performance, speed, and cost) will be available on Amazon Bedrock, Customers of all sizes can quickly test, design, and deploy generative artificial intelligence (AI) applications throughout their companies.

Amazon Bedrock provides clients with safe and convenient access to the most comprehensive selection of high-performing, fully managed large language models (LLMs) and other foundation models (FMs). When combined with the broad set of capabilities customers require to safely customize these models (including best-in-class retrieval augmented generation, guardrails, model evaluation, and AI-powered agents), Amazon Bedrock is the simplest way for customers to begin building and scaling generative AI applications with responsible AI built in.

Customers will be able to purchase the Claude 3 family of vision-enabled models Claude 3 Opus, Claude 3 Sonnet, and Claude 3 Haiku through Amazon Bedrock, with Sonnet available now. Anthropic's new, cutting-edge additions broaden Amazon Bedrock's generative AI model portfolio (which already includes models from AI21 Labs, Anthropic, Cohere, Meta, Mistral AI, Stability AI, and Amazon), giving customers more model options for developing generative AI applications to drive innovation and reinvent end-user experiences.

Anthropic data suggest that Claude 3 Opus, the most intelligent of the model family, has set a new benchmark in reasoning, math, and coding, exceeding other models available today, including OpenAI's GPT-4. Claude 3 Sonnet provides the finest balance of abilities and speed, with twice the speed of previous Claude models and greater degrees of intelligence. The Claude 3 Haiku, touted to be the quickest tiny model on the market, is one of the most economical solutions available today in the intelligence category, with near-instant reactivity that resembles human interactions.

According to Anthropic, Claude 3 outperforms other models available today in tasks such as coding and understanding non-English languages (including Spanish, Japanese, and French), as well as lower levels of hallucinations and higher levels of accuracy than previous models. The Claude 3 models perform better than previous generations in terms of following complicated, multi-step instructions and conforming to brand voice rules for customer-facing interactions. Furthermore, Claude 3 models may generate outputs in formats that make it easier for users to create applications for use cases such as natural language categorization or sentiment analysis.
