A rising number of people are worried that platforms with generative AI power, such as ChatGPT and Bing Chat, could replace some employment. It appears that some businesses are taking advantage of them to enable employees to perform more efficiently. Vashistha Iyer, the chief operating officer of the investing firm Capitalmind in Bengaluru, recently claimed that ChatGPT has increased the productivity of its staff by five times. The business has also decided to pay back employees' $20 (about Rs 2,000) monthly subscription to ChatGPT Plus subscription. Iyer adds in a tweet that most "junior analyst" roles will become obsolete thanks to AI chatbots like Open AI ChatGPT, at least in "progressive firms."

"Newcomers will have to learn to harness AI and gain competence in their domains," Iyer observes. He warns that there won't be any place for mediocrity.

Generative AI chatbots have gained popularity since the launch of GPT 3-powered ChatGPT late last year. The software provides quick, conversational responses to complicated questions. Though AI chatbots like ChatGPT and Bing Chat can better analyze inputs to provide a human-like response, AI-powered virtual assistants like Google Assistant and Apple Siri have been available for a while. Although ChatGPT can now only interpret text inputs, there is always room for improvement.

The GPT-4 language module, which is believed to be faster and more accurate, was recently released by OpenAI, the company that created ChatGPT. The commercial version of the free ChatGPT, ChatGPT Plus, is powered by the GPT-4 module. GPT-4 can also comprehend visual inputs, though this capability is still being tested. According to OpenAI, ChatGPT Plus performs better than the standard model and is given preference for new features.

Despite the possibility of job loss, some prominent tech figures have welcomed generative AI tools, such as ChatGPT. In a blog article about the "Age of AI," Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates ranks ChatGPT by OpenAI as the second-most significant development he has witnessed in his lifetime, right after the work on Windows OS I for contemporary PCs. Similar to this, Anthropic, an AI firm situated in San Francisco, is seeking to hire a Software Engineer and a Librarian with salaries up to US$ 335,000 per year (2.7 crore). Engineers experienced in prompting AI platforms will be chosen for the position.

On the other hand, several tech pioneers have asked for a six-month moratorium in creating systems more potent than OpenAI's recently released GPT-4, including Tesla owner Elon Musk and Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak. According to reports, the pair and other individuals have signed an open letter that expresses concern about generative AI. Said in the letter: "Advanced AI should be planned for and maintained with the same attention and resources since it could constitute a significant change in the history of life on Earth. Regrettably, there is not enough planning and management taking place."
