Which AI Chatbot is Better Google Bard or OpenAI ChatGPT?

Which AI Chatbot is Better Google Bard or OpenAI ChatGPT?
Published on

The question of which AI chatbot is better has entered a new phase as Google Bard is accessible now

Google has now opened Bard to a limited audience, signaling a new development in the Google and Microsoft generative AI war.

Google needs Bard to succeed because ChatGPT is showing off its GPT-4-powered might. Even though both are chatbots built using language models, they differ significantly.

Which chatbot is superior, then, is the question that now arises?

Bard's beginning was not the finest. In February, the chatbot demo failed, costing the business a $100 billion value.

Conversely, OpenAI's ChatGPT has been dominating the chatbot market. It has flaws, though, which gives its adversaries some hope.

Google is taking a cautious and methodical approach to taking advantage of ChatGPT's flaws.

ChatGPT's LLM Has More Parameters than Bard's

Large language models are the foundation of Bard and ChatGPT (LLMs). LaMDA (Language Model for Dialogue Applications) powers the former, whereas GPT-3.5 or GPT-4 supports the latter (depending on the versions).

LaMDA contains 137 billion parameters, whereas GPT-3 has 175 billion (values the LLM can change as it learns). They are based on Google's free deep-learning transformer model.

ChatGPT's Knowledge Base Has a Cut-Off Date

The incapacity of ChatGPT to respond to inquiries concerning events occurring beyond September 2021 is one of its biggest flaws. Contrarily, Bard has no such limitations.

The LLMs in both cases are relevant to this. LaMDA can retrieve solutions from the internet, keeping Bard current. The knowledge base for GPT-3 or GPT-4 is where ChatGPT gets its information.

Bard Cannot Code Yet

The ability of ChatGPT to create code is one of the factors that contributed to its enormous popularity. The chatbot's coding skills have astounded both professionals and laypeople.

Code can also be debugged. Bard is still picking up programming. Users still can't utilize codes with it. Responses concerning code "aren't officially supported currently," the FAQ states.

Bard Cannot Remember Past Conversations

What set ChatGPT apart from rivals was its capacity to recall previous chats. Although the functionality isn't flawless, it is still far superior to what other chatbots are capable of.

Bard, however, is unable to accomplish that. Google claims that Bard's context-holding capacity is now "purposefully restricted." The business predicted that capability would develop over time.

Bard Gives Multiple Responses to a Prompt

"Drafts" is a feature of Bard that could establish patterns for AI chatbots. Users can choose the best response from a variety of ones that the chatbot generates in response to a request.

Instead of the chatbot selecting an answer, the functionality requires users to do so. Contrarily, ChatGPT only provides one response at a time.

ChatGPT is Better than Bard at the Moment

It's time to respond to the question, of which chatbot is superior. It is clear that ChatGPT currently outperforms Google Bard.

It took advantage of its head start by working hard. Google is currently catching up. In this case, its measured approach can be problematic.

We shall know how excellent Bard can become in a few months.
