Can Robot Sisters be the Key to Win Skeptical Public Over AI?

These robot sisters are being designed to change the world of AI and how we see it

Artificial intelligence is a pioneering technology that has become a daily part of our lives. Starting from the healthcare industry to manufacturing, AI and AI-powered robots are probably the only future that we can envision. Studies say that the number of robots will gradually increase over the next decade, and almost 20% of the laborious human jobs will now be performed by robots! This rise of industrial robots will be accompanied by the gradual rise of humanoid robots. Humanoid robots or human-like robots have become an area of concern for scientists and researchers. As more days pass by, scientists are becoming more involved in making robots independent and providing them with the ability to act, think, and work more efficiently than a human can. As per recent innovations, scientists think that the unity of these robot sisters can actually become the solution to all the problems related to making humanoid robots.

Sophia, Grace, and Desdemona are all uniquely programmed and are sophisticated versions of the humanoid robot. The eldest of the three sisters, Sophia, is quite popular among us. She gained widespread attention back in 2016 when she was first activated. Besides, she is also one of the first humanoid robots who received citizenship from the UAE. Sophia has emerged in several global events as an elite speaker and gained the status of a celebrity AI. Sophia was named the first non-human Innovation Champion, a title given by the UN. After that, scientists created her two siblings! Now, these robot sisters are expected to change the face of artificial intelligence and robotics as we know it. These sisters can also be used by scientists to train other humanoid robots and help them bond with each other and humans.

New Supporters of AI

Desdemona's technology is perceived to be the most advanced among the three. She is a member of Goertzel's experiment band. The robot can reportedly improvise words in poetry in response to musical and cultural references that are being programmed into her. She can also answer simple questions to visitors in a museum. The robot's facial expressions and physical reponses are said to be unrealistically real!

Scienstists are trying to find new ways in alleviating the fears that surround the society. It is needless to mention that artificial machines are our future, and sooner or later we have to accept the truth. With the rising prominence of the technology, AI and robotics is also used for several notorious purposes like frauds and thefts. There are also superstitions about AI that a more advanced form of the technology might eventually bring an end to the world and humanity as we know it. Researchers are planning on using the three robot sisters to alleviate such confusing ideas about the technology.

Bottom Line

In the months to come, humanoid robots will witness a new form of development and growth. However, it is upon us how we perceive it to be and upon researchers and scientists who are designing them to deploy at different fields. It is quite evident humanoid robot might not be devoid of emotions or understanding as we might perceive it to be, hence, a nominal amount of human empathy and touch is needed to make them feel a part of our society.
