Sitharaman announces new IITs, IIITs, IIMs, AIIMS in Budget 2024 to boost education and research

With a vision to empower the country's youth and a mission to educate India, 3,000 new ITIs (Industrial Training Institutes), 7 IIMs (Indian Institutes of Management), 16 IITs (Indian Institutes of Information Technology), 15 AIIMS (All India Institutes of Medical Sciences) 7 IITs (Indian Institutes of Technology), and 390 universities have been established across the country, declared Finance Minister of India Nirmala Sitharaman today, February 1.

Finance Minister Sitharaman stated during the budget 2024 presentation that under "The skill India Mission", about 1.4 crore youth in India were trained, and almost 54 lakh Indian youth were upskilled and reskilled.

Today, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman submitted the country's budget for fiscal year 2024-25. Nirmala Sitharaman further stated that female enrolment in higher education has increased by 28% over the previous decade.

Prior to the budgetary session, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated on Wednesday, January 31, that Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman would present the 2024 interim budget with a "Disha-Nirdeshak Baatein" (vision-guided approach), emphasizing the strength of "Nari Shakti" (women empowerment). The President of India, Droupadi Murmu, also addressed the Parliament, commending India's progress as an emerging robust economy.
