Developing Near's Blockchain and adding AI building near's Blockchain, by Illia Polosukhin

Building a blockchain protocol was not Illia Polosukhin's intention. Polosukhin, a native of Ukraine, has been attracted by machine learning and artificial intelligence since he was ten years old. He speculates that his fascination may have begun after watching "The Matrix" and the surprisingly underappreciated "A.I."

In this article, we have explained the interview of Illia Polosukhin on the topic of developing near's blockchain. Read to know more about blockchain and adding AI by Illia Polosukhin.

Polosukhin was also intelligent. brilliant even. To focus on creating the models and tools that would eventually feed into artificial intelligence, he joined Google Research in 2014. He advanced research by co-authoring articles and publishing them. He wanted to do more, though. "Google has a lot of advantages and is a fantastic learning environment, but it moves very slowly," claims Polosukhin. "I wanted to move more quickly. I desired to create a startup.

The Consensus event in Austin this year has Illia Polosukhin as a speaker.

Hence, he co-founded NEAR in 2017 with Alexander Skidanov.

AI, which at first was solely concerned with artificial intelligence. It was unrelated to cryptocurrency, blockchain, non-fungible tokens (NFT), or holding.

It was then. Naturally, one of the most well-known blockchain protocols in the market today is called Near, which has 25 million users, 446,000 daily transactions, and a thriving ecosystem of decentralized applications (apps) and initiatives. It is one of many smart contract initiatives attempting to challenge Ethereum's existing hegemony.

But perhaps this is all a formality. Polosukhin has much grander ideas. "We want to hit one billion users," declares Polosukhin as he discusses his transition from artificial intelligence (AI) to cryptocurrency, the rationale for the introduction of Near's "Blockchain Operating System," and how AI might once more play a role in the company's future. Bonus? He explains why, in his opinion, technologies like blockchain and artificial intelligence might just save the human race.

For clarity, the interview has been lightly trimmed and reduced.

As a result, when you first started, near had no connection to blockchain.

Exactly. It is only AI. And when we were working on our AI, we tried several different things, but nothing was very successful. Unlike other firms currently, we didn't have technology worth hundreds of millions of dollars to train models on. But we did have a system for crowdsourcing.

It was a technology that helped us locate students-specifically, students of computer science-all across the world. Russia, Poland, Ukraine, and China. countries where students come from modest backgrounds and essentially labor for us for pennies. We would therefore have to pay them. And sending them money was genuinely challenging. It's quite challenging to accomplish using the current financial structure. The blockchain entered the picture at this point.

This was back when there was no inexpensive way to send transactions, before the Lightning Network, right?

Yeah. IOTA, EOS, and other items of that nature were present. We examined everything there. We are system engineers, too. We genuinely have a way to defeat IOTA. EOS also wasn't functional. EOS had many brilliant concepts, but their execution was total [crap].

We ultimately decided to brainstorm possible solutions to this issue. We also had a look at Polkadot and Cosmos, but they are rather complicated. So, we reasoned, "Well, well, let's try to solve this." Hence, NEAR.AI evolved into Near Protocol in this manner.
