Samsung said today that its first Galaxy Unpacked event of 2024 will take place on Wednesday, January 17, at 10 a.m. PT. This Galaxy Unpacked event will be held in the SAP Centre in San Jose, California, and aired live on Samsung's YouTube account.
According to the corporation, it will display "the newest additions to the Galaxy mobile device portfolio." In its teaser video, the firm goes even further, openly stating that "Galaxy AI is coming," implying that some on-device, Samsung-developed artificial intelligence is on the way.
To generate excitement ahead of the event, Samsung intends to provide a US$50 credit to consumers in the United States who reserve one of the new Galaxy phones on its website or through the Samsung app between Jan. 2 and Jan. 16. Money is not necessary; submit your name and email address, and you will be able to claim the US$50 credit whenever you place an official preorder.
For months, rumors have stated that Samsung will unveil the Galaxy S24 in January, and it looks like those predictions were correct. In previous years, Samsung upgraded the Samsung Galaxy S series in February, thus the company is releasing its next-generation phones a bit sooner than normal.
The Galaxy S24 Ultra is rumoured to sport a titanium frame, drawing parallels to Apple's similarly equipped iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 system on a chip (SoC) is expected to power the S24, S24 Plus, and S24 Ultra. The 8 Gen 3 is tremendously powerful, as demonstrated by the RedMagic 9 Pro, and critically, it supports on-device AI computations, which might be what Samsung is referring to with their event slogan.
According to another source, the S24 Plus and Ultra would be available with 12GB of RAM for improved performance, but the standard S24 will retain 8GB like the S23 model.
Rumours have circulated for months that Samsung will introduce the Galaxy S24 in January, and it appears that those predictions were right. Historically, Samsung refreshed the Galaxy S series in February, thus the firm is introducing its next-generation phones a little earlier than usual.
The Galaxy S24 Ultra is said to include a titanium frame, comparable to Apple's similarly outfitted iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max.
MysteryLupin, a leaker, has shared what seems to be marketing content for stores describing the new S24 series. According to the wording, the S24 Plus and Ultra versions will be able to use AI to move or remove elements in photos and fill in blank spots using Generative Edit. This seems similar to features introduced on the Google Pixel 8 range last year.
According to some sources, the Samsung Phone app will have a live translation tool so that two individuals who don't speak the same language may converse.
Ice Universe also claims that the S24 Ultra will be able to shoot 4K video at an incredible 120fps, but warns that the function is still under testing and may not be ready at launch.
