Elon Musk, the founder of Tesla announced to hold "Artificial Intelligence Day" for a month to showcase the progress in the new software and hardware related to artificial intelligence. The main aim behind hosting such a program is to recruit new talents for AI technology.
The CEO writes on Twitter," Looking at holding Tesla AI Day in about a month or so. Will go over progress with Tesla AI software & hardware, both training & inference. Purpose is recruiting".
Andrew Karpathy, AI director of Tesla gave a presentation on the efforts of the company towards computer vision in building autonomous driving systems. For which Elon Musk tweeted, "In general, anyone interested in tackling the problem of physical word AI should consider joining Tesla. The fastest path is to actually deploy an idea".
This opens the doors for professionals seeking jobs at Tesla, which is a pioneer of electric vehicles in the world. Tesla has been hosting such events for a few years now, it held "Tesla Autonomy Day" in 2019 and "Tesla Battery Day" in 2020. The motive behind these events is to exhibit new AI technologies, that the company is working with and to promote Tesla's self-driven cars.
Musk during an earnings call in January said that he was highly confident that the car will be able to drive itself this year. But in May, the company informed the California Department of Motor Vehicles, that it may not launch self-driving cars using AI technology by the end of 2021. The automaker is under review by the California regulator to see if the company violated any regulations by falsely promoting its advanced technology of self-driven cars.
The driving assistant feature of Tesla which it claims as "self-driving" is developed to make driving easy. But the features do not make cars self-driven or autonomous.
